HSBC announces new Head of Global Private Banking in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man

Anthony assumes the role with immediate effect, taking up the position from Kevin Herbert, who has retired from HSBC after a career with the bank spanning more than 35 years.

In his new role, Anthony will drive the bank’s strategy to grow its private banking offering in the islands, aligned with the bank’s GPB business and wider international wealth management strategy.

Anthony joined HSBC in 1999 and has worked in diverse markets, principally within HSBC’s GPB division, across the UK, Geneva, Dubai, Qatar, Hong Kong and Singapore, as well as the Channel Islands. Prior to his most recent role as Managing Director, Global India, MENA and Europe for HSBC GPB based in Singapore, he was Head of Trust and Fiduciary Services, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

Anthony is a Certified Private Wealth Professional through the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute, Certified Financial Planner through the UK Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, and this year he also completed a leadership course from Harvard Business School Online.

Commenting on Anthony’s appointment, Warwick Long, CEO, HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man, said:

“I’m delighted to welcome Anthony back to the Channel Islands as we continue to focus on growing our private banking proposition for both local and international customers. Anthony’s global client experience and deep relationship network across our core markets, combined with his knowledge of the local market, will add huge value as we continue to support the growth of our business, which remains strategically important for the Group both across Europe and globally.

“At the same time, I would like to acknowledge Kevin’s significant contribution to HSBC over more than three decades. His unrelenting passion to support our people and provide the best possible service for our customers have been impressive and supported the development of our business, and I’d like to extend a special thanks to him.”

Anthony added: “We have a fantastic team in place in the islands who continue to deliver exceptional service, and I’m excited by our potential as we look forward to 2024 and beyond. Our focus remains on growing and enhancing our private banking proposition in the islands, leveraging our international connectivity and working closely with colleagues both here and across our global network.
